Halloween 2008- Captain Hammer

All they have is Atari stuff right now, but it is an interesting idea. All the games apparently work with MAME and they look pretty reasonably priced.

Each game costs around 8-24 credits with credits available for:

40 Download Credits $10.00 ($0.25 each)
80 Download Credits $20.00 ($0.25 each)
200 Download Credits $35.00 ($0.175 each)
400 Download Credits $60.00 ($0.15 each)
800 Download Credits $99.00 ($0.12375 each)

It's weird, this comment didn't show up for me until I just posted a reply to your first comment. The count said there were 3 (and I'd gotten notification of your comment in email) but it just didn't show up on the site.

Odd.

(It's a fine gift though, just don't forget the batteries (and a screwdriver to put them in.))

Yep, but that's actually slightly different (the ROMs are from arcade machines while that's from the Atari 2600.) I have one of those for myself (and I've seen places online with downloadable 2600 ROMs and emulators.)

There's also a Namco arcade version with games like Pac-Man and Dig-Dug.

The 2600 version is pretty nice though. Everything you need in one little bundle, and the control is exactly what you had on the 2600. (I also may end up getting the 2600 from my parents' house at some point. I couldn't bear to throw it out (nor could they) so it'll probably come to live with me someday.)
