Halloween 2008- Captain Hammer
I had a pretty good day at work today. We finally got to release a pretty significant update that's been delayed repeatedly for somewhat unrelated reasons. It went really smoothly.

I came home and finally got motivated to do a little more cleaning. I finally tossed a few things I've been hanging on to for no good reason (including my Izzy the lizard empty Midori bottle) and did a little research on the proper way to dispose of rechargeable batteries.

Tomorrow's main cleaning event will be canceling my newspaper subscription. I'm additionally motivated by the delivery person's incompetence but this will reduce the clutter in my apartment.

On my way to work this morning there was a very large puddle in the parking lot of an adjacent building. A duck decided the puddle was a fine place to hang out:

Oh. When you described it to me, you said pool. So I was thinking kiddie pool. A huge kiddie pool with a duck in it is even weirder.

That would be more surreal.

I wasn't sure if I should say puddle or pool since it was a lot larger than your standard issue puddle.

The duck looks happy, at least.

Two families of geese live in a Metro parking lot here. It's really sad to see the goslings sprawled out, panting, and trying to stay cool in puddles 1/2" deep.

I think the duck may be a resident of a pool/pond/something close to the main road (which I believe is significantly deeper than this puddle was). The puddle (and the duck) were gone when I left work.
