Cute IE trick (possibly Mac only)

Halloween 2008- Captain Hammer
I've heard about this before but hadn't tried it myself until today.

If you click on a linked image like this:

and drag it up into the toolbar section of the IE window, it will scale the image down and make it a clickable link in your toolbar.

Fun, yes?

It's a very leetle happy dancing Gir. We'll have to set it up on monstersocks's machine so you can see.

I was also able to drag my LJ icon into the toolbar and it became a clickable link for LJ.

This bears further experimentation.

I should have tried it back when I first heard about it.

Much fun, Ash.

(tho, on IE 5.1, OS 9, I needed to option-click -- and then, control click to delete [as I think he'd drive me crazy after more than a day])

I'm enjoying it for now, but I'm sure I'll get tired of it eventually. I may work on finding some decent images for sites I go to frequently (at least those that will reasonably fit.)

Unfortunately I don't think this trick works in Omniweb which I use mostly at home now since I've switched to OS X.

Did you drag it into the button bar area, or the favorites bar area?

The button bar area is the one with the forward/back and home button. When you drag it you should see a black vertical line show up. If you drag it into the favorites bar area then you'll just get a clickable link.
