On Friday monstersocks and I went over to ladyslaughter's place and played a 90s trivia game. monstersocks was finally triumphant (fun game but lacks balance, some questions are really easy and others are very much not easy). We were out pretty late so I slept away much of Saturday.
Finally I got up and we went out and saw Return of the King at Southdale (and briefly checked out the iPod Minis at the Apple Store). The movie was great (my second time, monstersocks' first) but what I really want to see is the extended version. I've been planning on reading the books again but was waiting until all three movies were out. Now I'm thinking about waiting until after I've seen the extended DVD. (I'm also kind of busy reading Cerebus right now, I'm about halfway through Church and State 1, very good.) I don't really read as much as I used to. Some combination of Internet/TV/Other Stuff. Whenever I do read I tend to do it somewhat voraciously so I'll spend hours and hours doing it.
I was pretty impressed with the iPod Mini. I don't think I'll ever buy one for myself (I'm suffering with 20GB, I couldn't bear 4GB) but the new interface works really well. I think it's a definite improvement over the 3G iPods. Real buttons (even when activated by tilting the scroll wheel) are better than touch sensitive buttons. Much better tactile response. I hope the next iPod revision borrows this idea.
Sunday we had dinner at The Machine Shed. Stupid name for a restaurant but the food wasn't bad. I had Turkey Filet Mignon which was reportedly "filet of turkey breast tenderloins". I'm still not entirely sure what a "breast tenderloin" is but it wasn't bad (and was wrapped in bacon). The pan fried chicken livers were good too.
This week has mostly been get up, go to work, go to the gym, come home. monstersocks came over on Tuesday to get caught up on TV.
This weekend promises dim sum (yum) and hopefully other fun stuff.
