Halloween 2008- Captain Hammer

Mares Eat Oats

I'm generally somewhat uncomfortable when I run into people I know but don't know well in public. I generally expect I won't be recognized or something so I'm not sure if I should say hi or wait for them to do something. I was leaving the Target in Roseville today and a woman in the parking lot said hi to me as I passed her. It took me a minute to try and figure out who she was. I think she goes to my gym.

As I was leaving work tonight the Check Engine light came on in my car. Bah. Last time it came on it went off after a little while. When I called the dealership and they said that it was probably just a false reading due to the weather and I should ignore it unless it came on again. The light eventually went off tonight so I'm going to hope it was just weather related. That's a much more positive outcome than some expensive engine related problem.

I'm getting close to done with Christmas/etc shopping. I got three boxes in the mail yesterday and one today. Many more are yet to arrive. It's kind of frustrating that I shouldn't wrap the stuff I have for my family since I'm going to be flying and they prefer to be able to fully investigate everything you have with you these days. Sadly I couldn't find one of the things I was looking for tonight. I've seen them recently but dawdled ("He who hesitates is raped by capitalism" or so I hear).

I bought a new clock radio thing at Target tonight from dortz. It's bright orange and plays cds. Unfortunately according to the directions it gives up after about an hour (the alarm stops after an hour, I think that includes snooze time so if the alarm first goes off at 7am it will give up at 8am.) That's not really good enough for me, I need an alarm clock with much more dedication. It does have an interesting feature where you can have the alarm only go off on weekdays.

Generic s-video/vga converter and X-Box specific. I should really replace my monitor because it's been making some unpleasant popping noises recently. I'd like to get a 17" LCD screen but those are really expensive compared to CRTs still. It'd also be something of a waste if I do end up buying an iMac or something to replace my Cube sometime next year.

Oh, I also got my Psychopop Xmas Album in the mail tonight along with a christmas card from heidiz.

I think there was more that I meant to post, but it's getting late.

Are they trying to be stupid?

This sentence makes my brain hurt:
For the fan you know will buy the newest "Dawson's Creek" box when it's released, you should feel safe catching "Firefly — The Complete Series"

Not as much as this one though:
In this handsomely produced and short-lived show created by Joss Whedon, the sparks fly and comets collide when a lot of good-looking young people go into space on a salvage ship called Serenity in the middle of an intergalactic civil war.

Movies, dolls and statistics

Custom bobblehead dolls $40
Livejournal statistics (Apparently I'm not exactly an "average" user.)

I saw someone else post a list of top 100/bottom 100 films and which they'd seen and hadn't and thought I'd give it a try. I used bold for movies I've seen and italics for movies I think I might have seen but I'm not sure. This would be a little bit easier if they hadn't used foreign titles in the list for movies like The Good, The Bad And The Ugly. I imagine the contents of these lists aren't particularly static so they might not even match if you checked them right now.

Waiting

It would be nice if the people who make decisions would get their work done before going out to do some christmas shopping.

Mmmm, Sapphire Powerbooks…
