Halloween 2008- Captain Hammer

My week thus far

So, Monday afternoon before leaving for the gym I decided to call the local Apple Stores to see if any of them had iPod Photos (60GB iPod Photos that is, the 40GB seems to be readily available). I tried the Rosedale store first where I'd been this weekend and was in theory on the waiting list. The woman I spoke to seemed to think they had them in stock, but after checking she confirmed that they had none. My call to the Mall of America store was fairly similar. The Southdale store proved more useful however. The woman I spoke to there confirmed that they'd gotten some in that day and checked to see if they still had any. There was one left so she offered to hold it for me until 9pm that night. I rearranged my plans slightly to make room for a trip out to Edina and went off to the gym. After a shorter but more intense than usual workout I drove down to Southdale and picked up the iPod. I saw s4 and lostbutton were working but busy with other customers.

I'd had thoughts of trying to put some interesting picture on the screen of my new iPod Photo and then taking a picture of that and posting it but I wasn't able to take a picture of the screen that didn't look really terrible. I may experiment with it a little more in the future.

I've added about eleven CDs that I hadn't had room for before (including a five CD audiobook of Restaurant At The End Of The Universe read by Douglas Adams).

Current Stats:
Songs: 5534
Photos: 1648
Capacity: 55.8GB (60GB is using the 109 byte definition instead of the 230 byte definition.)
Available: 35.1GB

So far I really like the click-wheel. It's more compact than the 2G interface I had before with the buttons surrounding the wheel and a whole lot better than the 3G interface with all of the fake buttons that were a pain to use. I've noticed that the screen shows more text than the old one (especially in areas like Contacts, etc.). The screen looks really great even though it's only 220x176. It's cool having so many of my pictures available to look at all of the time. I haven't tried hooking it up to a TV yet. I haven't investigated the Notes feature or On-The-Go playlists yet either. I'm considering trying Delicious Library which can keep track of all of your music/movies/games and synch a list to your iPod.

My main complaints right now are that I can't charge it at work without buying a new cable or adapter and that they don't include the remote anymore and only sell the remote with another pair of headphones. Oh, and the Contacts feature still doesn't show Groups which is frustrating.

There's some other stuff going on but it's still somewhat in process/confidential. More news later.

The problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about each other.

I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about.

Ask away. Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.
