I stopped at my polling place this morning and it was busier than I've ever seen it. At one point I had to wait in line behind two other people. I think I was out in about ten minutes or so (including the time taken to decide on a soil and water supervisor). I added the "I Voted" sticker to the pile on my desk (not sure why I keep them there but I haven't thought of something better to do with them yet (and I tend to hoard things if I get a chance)).
This weekend monstersocks
and I were having lunch at Chipotle (Saturday, not Sunday, so we couldn't take advantage of free burritos today) and three teenage girls came in wearing "Vote Bush" t-shirts. That was a little confusing (if only they could hand their reproductive rights off to women more interested in them) but the most confusing part was the inscription on the back of the shirts. After several minutes of trying to read the goofy font (thank goodness for long Chipotle lines) I finally discovered that the back of the shirts read, "Git Er Done". Yeah.
Tonight I'm hiding from campaign coverage (except for The Daily Show and when I occasionally check in on live television) and reading my backlog of comics.
It's too bad we don't get sabbaticals in the IT industry.
