Halloween 2008- Captain Hammer
I was lying in bed this morning and the phone rang. I've been expecting a call recently so I actually answered it (I usually don't answer the phone if I'm in bed, that's what voicemail is for). Sadly instead of the call for which I've been waiting it was work. There was a problem that needed solving. I think I ended up with a total of three or four calls in about five minutes. Got up, fixed the problem and figured out exactly what had happened. And I have a long meeting where I'll be learning lots of exciting new plans later today. Whee.

It's enough to make a person long for some absinthe chocolate or a dancing robot car.

iMac or G5?

Why would anyone do that to poor, delicious chocolate? It would be like chocolate-covered black licorice, only worse.

At Izzy's they sometimes have Green Fairy ice cream which is green tea with anise. When asked what it tastes like the employees tend to say it tastes bad, sort of like licorice.

if the iMac you're thinking of is the 20" I'd say go for that -- the screen on the 20 just is *so much better than the 17 -- in fact, if the choice was between a 17" iMac G5 and a 20" iMac G4, I'd still suggest the 20.

(note: having seen the 20" & 17" iMac G5's seperately, and having seen/experienced the 17" iMac G5 and the 20" iMac G4 side-by-side)

Right now I'm trying to decide between replacing my G4 Cube with a G5 iMac (17" or 20") or a G5 tower (Dual 2.0GHz or Dual 1.8GHz). I came very close to ordering a refurb Dual 2.0GHz G5 tower this weekend (previous series) but I didn't quite do it.

The iMac seems like a more appropriate replacement for the Cube. My main concern would be the longevity of the flat panel display and hot/dead pixels. The G5 tower has more room for expansion, but I'm not sure how important that actually is. It would be nice to have room for a second internal drive.

One thing that stopped me was the idea of paying $2000 for a year and a half old computer. Sure, it was top of the line when released, but I'm hoping they'll be able to get better than a 25% speed boost over the next year.
