Roast Beef- Dobler Style
They finally dropped the other shoe on iPhone pricing. $60 for 450 minutes, 200 SMS and unlimited data.

That's about $10 more than I'm paying now for 300 minutes and 100 SMS with unlimited data, but not as high as I'd feared. You can also pay more for more minutes if you're into that sort of thing.

I'd still have to get past the $600 price tag and the whole "no third party apps that aren't websites" thing.

while i'd *like third party apps for the iphone, since i've noted with my palm that the replacements are *much more feature-packed than the originals, i can see where they're coming from with regards to stability [i *love the features of agendus, for example, but it's buggy as hell and sometimes requires a hard reset]. tho, ofc, some apps, like daynotez, are extremely stable [and i'd hate to be stuck with just the built-in memopad].

One big thing holding me back from buying an iPhone is the fact that I've been a PalmOS user for almost a decade and it's tough to switch. I've got PalmOS programs that I like and would be disappointed to lose.

I switched from a Clie to the Treo because even though I loved the 320x480 screen I got tired of carrying around a PDA and a phone.

Watching the video reviews of the iPhone made me much more tempted but there are still many reasons for me to wait.

Honestly I'm hoping that the iPhone causes Palm to wake up and improve the Treo line. The 755p is a minor improvement over the 650 that I've had for more than two years. I'd love to see an iPhone style Treo with Graffiti input instead of the virtual keyboard.

Yep, plus a reasonable amount of space and an OS that looks more like it belongs in this decade.

Palm had the Lifedrive with a 4GB hard drive (which they released as flash prices were plummeting) and they've brought the Treo 755p up to an amazing 128MB of memory (from the 32MB of my 650).

The iPhone's 4GB or 8GB makes Palms' offerings look pretty sad.
