Rock Out With Barack Out

Friday we went down to Hastings to wait at the hospital while monstersocks' mother went in for surgery. Everything went very well and she's doing better than she normally does after surgery.

Once things were settled at the hospital we headed back to the cities. monstersocks had dinner with kalmn while I went over to the U for the Men Who Control The Weather/Dance Band/MC Chris show. Confusingly I didn't see billmurray8. I thought she liked Dance Band but I guess I was wrong. The show was a lot of fun. In a way, seeing MC Chris in person was a bit like meeting Chris Jericho. They are both very short men.

Today I went out to my local Senate District Convention. I joined a subcaucus that sul_ponticello was helping to assemble (Obama/Franken/DFL2008). The convention had 50 54 subcaucuses which seemed rather ridiculous. Many didn't make it past the announcement stage. Jack Nelson Pallmeyer supporters are a bit intense. We got speeches from Mark Dayton (in semi-support of Hillary Clinton), Keith Ellison, Al Franken and others. I'm fairly impressed that anything ever actually gets accomplished given how messy such things are. I nominated myself as a delegate for the next level of convention but didn't get enough votes to move on.

I also found out a couple friends from college will be in town tonight so I may have dinner with them. (I tried calling their cellphone while they were on the plane so I could leave a message, but apparently it isn't actually their cellphone it's a parent's and it's set to transfer to the parent's home phone if the cell is off.)

I won't be enjoying Daylight Saving Time tonight since I've been up a bit earlier than usual this weekend.
