Halloween 2008- Captain Hammer
My old bedroom (it had a few more walls back when it was my room, and a floor:

My brother's old bedroom: (along with what used to be a wall between his room and the kitchen.)

This shot includes the other side of my old bedroom, the hallway between our bedrooms (leading towards the dining room) and my brother's old bedroom. The blue section was my old closet.

This is my parent's great room with a huge pile of my stuff behind the couch:

Your parents are brave. I'd love to renovate a house sometime, but the more I read about it, the more I realize how even small renovations are HUGE projects. What are their plans?

I'll try and explain it but I'm not sure I can do a very good job without making some kind of diagram.

Previously there was a rather small kitchen with the somewhat small full bathroom next to it. My bedroom, my brother's bedroom and the dining room all were connected to the kitchen area. The bathroom isn't in any of the pictures I've posted so far but it was between my bedroom and the kitchen.

The end result is going to be a substantially larger kitchen, two bathrooms (one full and one 3/4) and a guest bedroom. My bedroom is going to become the bathrooms and I believe my brother's bedroom will be transformed into the guest room and part of the new kitchen.

What was the door from my bedroom to the living room will now be the door from the new full bathroom into the living room.

I hadn't quite understood the magnitude of the project until my parents mentioned needing to take all of the accumulated stuff out of my room.

The house has had quite a few additions over the years. When our house was initially purchased it had the kitchen, what was most recently my brother's bedroom, what was most recently my bedroom and the dining room. My parents added the bathroom and the living room fairly shortly after buying it. A large closet was added to the house adjacent to the room that was most recently my brother's (at the time it was my parents' bedroom) and a little while later the great room was added. My brother and I shared a room for a while then my parents built a wall in the middle of what is now the living room so that we could each have our own rooms. That wall eventually came down and a new bedroom was added for my parents adjacent to the living room and Ike and I moved into our own full rooms which are now being taken apart. Oh, and the external porch was enclosed as a storage area and another porch was later built outside what was most recently my bedroom.

That was fairly long.

I'm sorry.

Thanks.

Honestly I'm more upset about having to deal with all of my accumulated stuff than I am about the bedroom. It hasn't really been mine in years and years, it was more of an office for my mom that happened to have my stuff in dressers and bookcases. At various times over the years I've been in three different rooms (what is now the dining room, what was my bedroom and half of what is now the living room.)

Also it's not like the room I was born in is being remodeled out of existence. I think it's currently a computer lab.
